The first rains have fallen, the days are turning green and the warmth of the coming summer is already giving us a taste of what to expect. It is safe to say that Nelspruit is in the full swing of this brand new warm season and that means there are plenty of activities to add to the social calendar, if you are headed to the town and looking for some fun things to keep you entertained.
Spring in the Lowveld is a special time.
The days are long and full of light, the evenings are warm and often stormy, and for many it is the best time of year to get social.
If you are staying at Nelspruit Lodge this September, we have some truly fun activities to share with you. The Lowveld events calendar this month is packed back to back with all sorts of outdoor things to do, from relaxing yoga in the Botanical Garden to various musical concerts. There will also be plenty of places hosting Rugby World Cup watch parties, so you won’t have to worry about missing out on the action.
Here’s what to pencil into your diary this month:
2nd of September 8am – Secret Sunrise Lowveld Yoga
The Secret Sunrise team here in the Lowveld has built a loyal following of novice and expert yogis, as well as people who really just want to start their weekend grooving in the brilliant Nelspruit sunshine.Â
This Spring weekend, Secret Sunrise is hosting an invigorating session in the Lowveld Botanical Garden, giving those interested a chance to shake out the winter cobwebs and get their bodies moving again.Â
To attend, at ticket will cost R105, and you will also need to pay the R55 garden entrance fee. Bring your yoga mat, and start off Spring the right way.Â
9th of September 10am – Woofstock!
This annual event is one for the fur kids. Woofstock aims to raise funds for the SPCA and Prolife, and this year it is going to be a real doozy. Hosted at Mustangs, this year’s Woofstock is going to be a whole day affair, including a huge market, live music, and a braai broodtjie competition! Now who can resist that!?
Entry will cost R200 with children under 18 paying R100. The evening will include a popular music line up, with the likes of Black Cat Bones.Â
The 9th and 10th of September – The Gin Fest
Another annual get together, The Gin Fest is an excuse to get a little bit tipsy on artisanal Gins, Wines, Beers and more, all while enjoying the live music. Since the Springboks are playing their first World Cup match on the 10th, there will be space for those interested to sit and watch.Â
In September, our Boks are playing matches on the 10th, the 17th, and the 23rd. You can watch the matches, alongside other ardent fans at places like Little Loftus up in Uitkyk, at the Jock, and at pretty much any other local bar.Â
We hope to see you this month! Don’t forget to book your Nelspruit accommodation early, so as not to miss out.Â
